This winter, three counselors of KODA Camp Midwest decided to take the initiative to do something for the campers. Camp is expensive and campers cannot always come or struggle to come based on financial reasons. Our counselors wanted to do something for the campers and camp because they understand the value of attending the camp. Kassie Spurgis, Cela Schmit, and Jolan Dishno organized and hosted a spaghetti dinner with a raffle at the Madison Deaf Club in Wisconsin. With the intention of raising scholarship money for campers to attend the 2016 session, these girls raised nearly $1000 of pure profit to go directly to those in need. There were plenty of generous donations from local companies and local members of the community which were greatly appreciated. Families can fill out applications to apply for a scholarship. It is not guaranteed that everyone who applies will receive a scholarship but we will do our best. In the future, it is a goal to continually raise scholarship money yearly and become a mid way reunion throughout the year. We thank you to all who came and supported the event! Hope to see you this summer!
